Track eight from "Out of Darkness" is my first ever bossa nova composition. Being a drummer, I enjoy playing around with different kinds of rhythms, and the bossa (like other latin beats) is just fun. I love "The Girl from Ipanema" (especially the Kenny G version) and "Quando Quando Quando" by Michael Buble.

Mi Bossa nearly did not make it to the album. I was inclined to cut it and just use it as a give-away, but my wife really liked it and encouraged me to include it, as it offers yet another variant of style. It was the first song I recorded in this new genre (for me) I'm experimenting with, and I wrote it on the guitar. I had been gigging with a local sax player doing a smooth jazz duo. That is where I got the idea to create my own project, though admittedly less jazz focused and leaning more toward contemporary instrumental.
