Track six from "Out of Darkness" was written around Christmas time, hence "Merry Times". The "5 & 6" in the title refer to the two time signatures in which the song is written.

While working and living away from my family in 2016, I decided to compose a song based on happy Christmas memories. I was looking for a jazzy "Christmas-y" sound, and this one came to me as I was walking home for lunch one day. I hope to write more holiday style music in the future, as I have never done so. So this song was just about enjoying the holiday spirit and getting into the mood.

From a writer's perspective, my favorite part of the song is the bridge where the instrumentation changes and goes to a very different feel, kind of a warm and mellow "enjoy the moment" kind of thing...
