Track 3 of "Out of Darkness"... The dark mood in this solo piano track reflects my low point during the project. It was written following a period of intense struggle with chronic fatigue and depression.

As I sat at the piano, I found and played the first phrase of the verse over and over. As I did, the words, "I've been down so long," kept reverberating through me to the tune of the piece I was playing.

Another adult contemporary piano song, it's arrangement gave voice to the lament I was having a difficult time expressing otherwise. I find it immensely interesting how I began to discover inner peace and healing by sort of "exhaling" the pain through music. Through this process, I have become a firm believer in finding expression through other means when the words won't come. For me it was music. For someone else, it could be anything to which they can apply their heart.
